Manufacturing Engineer - Process Planning

Summary/Objective
The Manufacturing Engineer plays a key role in shaping our manufacturing processes, driving efficiency, enhancing product quality, and contributing to our overall success in the manufacture of high precision products. Their knowledge and problem-solving skills are instrumental to optimizing our production and ensuring that we meet our production targets. Essential Functions

  • Reviews product designs for manufacturability, proper tolerances, quality requirements, and cost drivers.
  • Defines the manufacturing process required to produce components and assemblies.
  • Determines fixture and gage requirements for new components and designs or procures necessary items.
  • Creates manufacturing process routes and bills of material in ERP system.
  • Reviews Engineering Change Orders and updates process documentation as necessary.
  • Collaborates with other manufacturing engineers, design engineers, quality control personnel, supervisors and machine operators to maximize shop-floor productivity and product quality.
  • Participates in root-cause analysis and corrective action of quality discrepancies.

Competencies

  • Experience with CNC machining, knowledge of work holding and machining principles.

Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Machining

Summary/Objective
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing necessary support to Production, driving efficiency, enhancing product quality, and contributing to our overall success in the manufacture of high precision products. Essential Functions

  • Reviews product designs for manufacturability, proper tolerances, quality requirements, and cost drivers.

  • Prepares manufacturing sketches, setup sheets, and other shop floor documents.
  • Programs CNC machines, resolves start-up problems, and optimizes feeds and speeds to achieve minimum run time consistent with acceptable quality and adequate tool life.
  • Performs shop-floor troubleshooting activities to diagnose and correct machinery and process problems identified by machine shop personnel and manufacturing engineering staff.
  • Works hands-on with a wide variety of CNC lathes, machining centers, and other machines / equipment.
  • Collaborates with other manufacturing engineers, design engineers, quality control personnel, supervisors and machine operators to maximize shop-floor productivity and product quality.
  • Participates in root-cause analysis and corrective action of quality discrepancies.
  • Assists in training of machine operators on company procedures and task-specific requirements.

Summary/Objective
The Janitor is responsible for facility maintenance as directed by the Facility Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Routine maintenance of facility and equipment
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Disposal of metal scrap from machine tools
  • Mixing and dispensing fresh coolant to machine tools

Mechatronics Engineer II

Harmonic Drive LLC is a leading manufacturer of precision motion control products including precision servo actuators, planetary gearsets, strain wave gearing components and integrated gears. Summary/Objective
Candidates are responsible for several aspects of mechatronics engineering for custom and next generation actuator designs, including the gear system, the motor and sensor design and specifications, as well as verification of actuator performance with a variety of amplifiers, controllers, and test equipment. A proficiency in CAD design and detailing using SolidWorks is required.   Must be a hands-on contributor to product development.

  • Electro-mechanical design, development and documentation including manufacturing and customer drawings for systems of varied complexity from concept through production. Designs integrating industrial electro-mechanical system components including actuators, motors, gears, bearings, sensors, connectors, servo drives, and controllers.
  • Develop products and components for complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Perform analysis, troubleshooting, and testing at the component and systems level for products in development as well as in production.
  • Create test and assembly procedures and reports to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Work with purchasing and manufacturing to source vendors for component purchases and create bills of materials in the current ERP system as well on assembly drawings.
  • Written and verbal communication skills enabling a clear and accurate understanding when communicating with sales as well as directly with customers or vendors.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects with the daily engineering tasks effectively.
  • Follow and make recommendations to improve upon Harmonic Drive’s development processes and procedures.

Competencies

  • Intermediate electrical and mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment including integrating electro-mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrate electromechanical design creativity and pragmatic problem-solving skills, with the ability to design with manufacturing ease and cost in mind.
  • SolidWorks knowledge with an understanding of GD&T as well as an understanding of manufacturing and inspection capabilities and limitations.
  • Familiar with engineering documentation control practices.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment such as multimeters, power meters, oscilloscopes etc. is a plus.  
  • Hands on experience in mechanical and electrical assembly including soldering and crimping is a plus.
  • Ability to generate accurate reports to clearly document and communicate findings
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP, etc.).
  • Programming skills such as with Python or LabVIEW and servo drive commissioning experience is a plus.
  • Experience with servo drives from Copley Controls, Elmo, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, B&R, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Bosch Rexroth or Panasonic is a plus.
  • Networking experience including EtherCAT® and CANopen® a plus.
  • Ability to develop PCBAs for various applications a plus.
  • Experience with various types of automated machinery and robotics is a plus.

Quality Metrology Technician

Summary/Objective

The Quality Technician is responsible for performing and documenting FAIs, receiving, in-process and final inspection to ensure product conforms to all applicable requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Applies knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles to perform inspection to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors and Engineers.
  • Train other inspectors and technicians.
  • Participate in special projects related to tooling fixtures and gages.
  • Identifies cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
  • Create CMM programs using part drawings or models and perform inspections as required.
  • Assist with creation of instructions for using inspection tools and systems.
  • Provide inspection support to all departments in the organization, perform part inspection and FAIs.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of reading blueprints and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, surface plates, optical comparators, microscopes, coordinate measuring machine, profilometers, hardness/durometer testers.
